Very important is a home loss of third ranked Kyoto H. (18-19) against fourth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (25-12) on Sunday night. Host Kyoto H. unexpectedly was defeated by in Kyoto 68-85. Hitachi Sunrockers dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Kyoto H.'s 28. They outrebounded Kyoto H. 46-25 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Hitachi Sunrockers players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American center David Simon (208-82, college: PFW) came up with 26 points and 9 rebounds and Zimbabwean-American forward Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Kyoto H. in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains fourth place with 25-12 record which they share with defeated Kyoto H. Kyoto H. at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 19 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers' next round opponent will be Yokohama BC (#5) on the road.
