Regular Season Round 19: Betanzos - PBB 104-96

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Betanzos (6-10) beat at home 4th placed PBB (11-5) 104-96 on Sunday. Betanzos made 33-of-42 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Betanzos outrebounded PBB 50-33 including a 37-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. PBB was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for Bosnian forward Simun Kovac (203-96, college: Concord) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds. Center Marcos Rozas (202-83) contributed with 27 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Javier Dominguez (199-94) answered with 21 points and point guard Lucas Vaquero (185-89) added 15 points and 4 steals in the effort for PBB. Four Betanzos and five PBB players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Betanzos moved-up to ninth place in Group A-B. Loser PBB keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Betanzos will face higher ranked La Antigua (#8) in Salamanca in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. PBB will play at home against the league's second-placed Chantada (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
