Regular Season Round 13: Kutaisi - Olimpi 89-74

The game between third ranked Olimpi (7-5) and eighth ranked Kutaisi (6-6) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Olimpi was defeated by Kutaisi in Kutaisi 89-74. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-74. Kutaisi looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Forward Giorgi Barbakadze (203-91) fired 27 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. American guard DeJuan Wright (190-88, college: FIU) chipped in 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Kory Holden (185-96, college: S.Alabama) produced 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international guard Revaz Rogava (192-93) added 10 points and 8 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kutaisi moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Dinamo Tbilisi and Cactus Tbilisi. Olimpi at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. They share it with Vera. Kutaisi is looking forward to face league's leader TSU in Tbilisi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Olimpi's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Tskhum-Abkhazeti.
