Regular Season Round 11: Rostock S.J. - Essen Ruhr 96-94

Eighth-ranked Essen Ruhr (0-11) was very close to win a game against fourth ranked Rostock S.J. (6-5) on Sunday. Rostock S.J. managed to secure only two-point victory 96-94. However their fans expected much easier game. Rostock S.J. shot 33 for 44 from the free-throw line, while Essen Ruhr only scored twelve points from the stripe. Rostock S.J. forced 20 Essen Ruhr turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Essen Ruhr helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Essen Ruhr's coach Thorsten Morzuch tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Rostock S.J. maintains fourth place in A North with 6-5 record, which they share with Jena. Essen Ruhr at the other side still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Rostock S.J. is looking forward to face Jena (#5) on the road in the next round. Essen Ruhr will play against the league's second-placed Leverkusen and hopes to get finally their first victory.
