Regular Season Round 23: Fortitudo AGR - Eurobasket RO 89-76

There was no surprise in Agrigento where 12th ranked Eurobasket RO (7-16) was defeated by second ranked Fortitudo AGR (15-8) 89-76 on Sunday. Eurobasket RO was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was point guard Simone Pepe (184-93, agency: SPORTlab Agency) who scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Giovanni De-Nicolao (190-96, college: UTSA) chipped in 18 points. Swingman Alessandro Amici (200-91) produced 19 points and American forward Steve Taylor-Jr (206-93, college: Toledo) added 12 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Fortitudo AGR maintains second place in A2 with 15-8 record having four points less than leader Basket RAV. Loser Eurobasket RO keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Fortitudo AGR will face Zeus NPC Rieti (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Eurobasket RO will play against Orlandina CdO (#13) in Capo d'Orlando and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
