Regular Season Round 37: Hokkaido L. - Sea Horses M. 92-100

Not a big story in a game in Saporro where 6th ranked Hokkaido L. (13-24) was defeated by second ranked Aishin Sea Horses (17-20) 100-92 on Monday. Aishin Sea Horses made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Hokkaido L. was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) fired 25 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. American power forward Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. American forward Kennedy Meeks (208-95, college: UNC) produced a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import Markeith Cummings (198-88, college: Kennesaw St.) added 24 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Aishin Sea Horses maintains second place with 17-20 record having eleven points less than leader Tochigi B., which they share with Akita NH. Loser Hokkaido L. dropped to the fourth position with 24 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face league's leader Tochigi B. at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hokkaido L. will play against Shiga L-Stars and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
