Regular Season Round 37: Yokohama BC - Akita NH 75-93

There was a minor upset when their close opponent Yokohama BC (9-28) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Akita Happinets (17-20) 93-75 on Wednesday. Akita Happinets made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Yokohama BC turnovers and outrebounded them 37-26 including 22 on the defensive glass. Akita Happinets looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Yokohama BC's players. Yokohama BC was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Justin Keenan (202-89, college: Ferris St.) fired 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. International power forward Nyika Williams (203-87, college: Pacific) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. Five Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. Turkish center Reginald Becton (206-91) produced 15 points and 8 rebounds and American forward James Southerland (203-90, college: Syracuse) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Akita Happinets moved-up to second place, which they share with Sea Horses M. Yokohama BC lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 28 games lost. Akita Happinets will face league's leader Ryukyu GK in Okinawa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yokohama BC will play at home against Hitachi Sunrockers (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
