Regular Season Round 38: San-en NP - Nagoya DD 64-79

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Diamond Dolphins' (16-22) road victory over 6th ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (3-35) in Hamamatsu 79-64 on Saturday. Diamond Dolphins outrebounded San-en NeoPhoenix 40-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. American center Jamel McLean (202-88, college: Xavier) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import center Hilton Armstrong (210-84, college: UConn) contributed with 7 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Diamond Dolphins players scored in double figures. American forward Devin Ebanks (206-89, college: WVU) replied with 19 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Takanobu Nishikawa (195-92) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for San-en NeoPhoenix. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Diamond Dolphins moved-up to third place, which they share with Toyama G. San-en NeoPhoenix lost fourteenth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 35 games lost. Diamond Dolphins will have a break next round. San-en NeoPhoenix will play again at home against Diamond Dolphins (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
