Regular Season Round 14: Mgzavrebi - Batumi 80-84

Date: February 15, 2020
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Batumi (9-4) beat bottom-ranked Mgzavrebi (3-10) in Tbilisi 84-80. Batumi players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was American forward Collin Malcolm (201-97, college: Warner Pacific) who scored 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Greek guard Nikolaos Diplaros (190-97) chipped in 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Worth to mention Malcolm played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. American forward Taj Spencer (201-93, college: CBU) produced 22 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Lovell Cabbil (190-97, college: Liberty, agency: Green Sports Management) added 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Five Batumi and four Mgzavrebi players scored in double figures. Mgzavrebi's coach Anatoli Berishvili tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Batumi have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with TSU. Mgzavrebi lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with ten games lost. Batumi's next round opponent will be Cactus Tbilisi (#8) at home and are hoping to win another game. Mgzavrebi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi BC Titebi.
