Not a big story in a game in Saporro where 6th ranked Hokkaido L. (13-26) was defeated by third ranked Shiga L-Stars (21-18) 99-83 on Sunday. Shiga L-Stars looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by Hokkaido L.'s players. It was a great evening for American forward Jeff Ayres (206-87, college: ASU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international point guard Takumi Saito (172-95) helped adding 22 points and 11 assists. The best for the losing side was American Markeith Cummings (198-88, college: Kennesaw St.) with 30 points and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Shiga L-Stars. They maintain third place with 21-18 record having nine points less than leader Tochigi B. Hokkaido L. lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fourth position with 26 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will face Chiba J. (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Hokkaido L. will play against Kyoto H. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
