Regular Season Round 39: Yokohama BC - Hitachi SRT 79-90

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers' (26-13) road victory over 5th ranked Yokohama BC (10-29) 90-79 on Sunday. Hitachi Sunrockers looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hitachi Sunrockers made 9 blocks. It was a great evening for American Ryan Kelly (211-91, college: Duke) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks. His fellow American import center Charles Jackson (208-93, college: Tenn Tech) helped adding 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was American forward James Southerland (203-90, college: Syracuse) with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds and Turkish center Reginald Becton (206-91) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains fourth place with 26-13 record. Loser Yokohama BC keeps the fifth position with 29 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face higher ranked Toyama G. (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Yokohama BC will play against the league's leader Tochigi B. and hope to win that game.
