A very close game took place in Hamamatsu between San-en NeoPhoenix and Diamond Dolphins. Sixth ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (4-35) got a very close home victory over 5th ranked Diamond Dolphins (16-23). San-en NeoPhoenix managed to escape with a 3-point win 66-63 on Sunday evening. San-en NeoPhoenix looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Ukrainian center Viacheslav Kravtsov (212-87, agency: BeoBasket) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. American forward Robert Dozier (206-85, college: Memphis) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Jamel McLean (202-88, college: Xavier) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) added 11 points and 15 rebounds respectively. Diamond Dolphins' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. San-en NeoPhoenix maintains sixth place with 4-35 record. Loser Diamond Dolphins dropped to the third position with 23 games lost. They share it with Toyama G.. San-en NeoPhoenix will meet at home higher ranked Akita Happinets (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Diamond Dolphins will play against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
