Regular Season Round 39: Toyama G. - Kyoto H. 79-80

Important game to mention about took place in Toyama. Fourth ranked Kyoto H. (19-20) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 3rd placed Toyama G. (16-23) 80-79 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Toyama G.. Strangely Toyama G. outrebounded Kyoto H. 44-27 including a 14-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American center David Simon (208-82, college: PFW) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Ryo Terashima (179-97) accounted for 20 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Kyoto H.'s coach Honoo Hamaguchi allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and the other American import center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) added 17 points and 13 rebounds respectively for Toyama G. in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kyoto H. maintains fourth place with 19-20 record. Toyama G. at the other side keeps the third position with 23 games lost. They share it with Nagoya DD. Kyoto H. will play against Hokkaido L. (#6) in Saporro in the next round. Toyama G. will play on the road against Hitachi Sunrockers in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
