Regular Season Round 15: Alab Pilipinas - Saigon H. 99-79

The game between second ranked Filipino Alab Pilipinas (10-6) and 10th ranked Vietnamese Saigon Heat (3-11) in Manila ended with biggest points difference. Alab Pilipinas outscored guests from Saigon 99-79. Alab Pilipinas dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Saigon Heat's 46. They outrebounded Saigon Heat 56-30 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Alab Pilipinas players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Nick King (201-95, college: MTSU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. Maltese center Samuel Deguara (225-91) helped adding 23 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Alab Pilipinas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Sam Thompson (201-92, college: Ohio St., agency: Pensack Sports) with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and Duong Tran-Nguyen scored 18 points. Saigon Heat's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Defending Filipino champion maintains second place with 10-6 record having just two points less than leader Mono Vampire. Saigon Heat at the other side stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Alab Pilipinas will again play against bottom-ranked Saigon Heat (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Saigon Heat will have a break next round.
