Regular Season Round 6: Plaza - Cupes 101-106

One of their biggest challengers Plaza (4-5) was defeated by fifth ranked Cupes (4-5) with the biggest margin this round 106-101. It was a good game for American guard Ty Garland (185-92, college: La Salle) who led his team to a victory with 26 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Osvaldo Lopez (189-83) contributed with 28 points for the winners. Garland is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Cupes' coach Victor Ortega used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Qyidar Davis (198-93, college: Indiana St.) replied with 31 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and his fellow American import forward Branden Dawson (198-93, college: Michigan St.) added 27 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) in the effort for Plaza. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cupes moved-up to third place, which they share with CDP and Plaza. Plaza lost third consecutive game. Cupes' next round opponent will be league's second-placed CPN and it will be for sure the game of the week. Plaza's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago GUG.
