Perth Wildcats nipped Cairns Taipans in the semifinal series opener. Perth Wildcats made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Bryce Cotton (182-92, college: Providence, agency: Pensack Sports) stepped up and scored 42 points (!!!) and 6 assists for the winners and international power forward Nick Kay (206-92, college: MSU Denver) chipped in 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side Brazilian-American guard Scott Machado (186-90, college: Iona) responded with 31 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists and American forward Cameron Oliver (203-96, college: Nevada) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 18 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
