Regular Season Round 12: Gulbene - BC Star 65-59

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Estonian BC Star (7-8) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Latvian Gulbene (8-5) 65-59 on Friday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But BC Star won third quarter 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Gulbene won last quarter 18-14. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Rihards Berkolds (183-4) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 7 rebounds and guard Rainers Lisicins (185-4) who added 16 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was Joosep Poldre with 18 points and Hendrik Koort (-4) scored 12 points. BC Star's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Gulbene have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain ninth position with 8-5 record, which they share with Rakvere. BC Star at the other side keeps the thirteenth place with eight games lost. Gulbene will face league's second-placed Erkmaa in Tartu in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. BC Star will play at home against MBC (#5) and hope to win that game.
