Regular Season Round 35: Vilpas - Seagulls 81-62

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Seagulls (27-6) in Salo on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Vilpas (27-6) 81-62. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Seagulls. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Vilpas dominated on the defensive end, holding Seagulls to just 6 points in first quarter. It was a great evening for American power forward Jeremiah Wood (200-85, agency: Inception Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. International guard Henri Kantonen (198-97) helped adding 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Vilpas players scored in double figures. American point guard Richard Williams (178-87, college: San Diego St., agency: HMS) responded with 13 points and 7 rebounds and Canadian guard Trae Bell-Haynes (188-95, college: Vermont) scored 15 points. Vilpas have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They used an opportunity after Seagulls lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position which they share with defeated Seagulls. Vilpas is looking forward to face Kataja (#6) in Joensuu in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Seagulls will play at home against Kouvot (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
