Regular Season Round 30: Rivne - Khimik-2 86-68

An interesting game for Rivne (19-7) which hosted in Rivne one of their biggest challengers Khimik-2 (17-9). Second ranked Rivne had an easy win 86-68. The game was mostly controlled by Rivne. Khimik-2 was better in fourth quarter 26-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rivne dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Khimik-2's 28 and made 24-of-30 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Khimik-2 40-21 including a 33-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Rivne players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Khimik-2 helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Yevgen Koroviyakov (199-88) who scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Oleksandr Shepelev (201-94) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Oleksandr Kovliar (180-2) who recorded 20 points and swingman Vitaliy Shorstkiy (194-0) added 11 points respectively. Khimik-2's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Rivne maintains second position with 19-7 record having six points less than leader KDPU. Khimik-2 at the other side keeps the third place with nine games lost. Rivne's next round opponent will be league's leader Ternopil-TNEU at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Khimik-2 will play against Politekhn.Lvov and hope to win that game.
