Second Stage Round 2: Plaza - GUG 94-99

Very significant was GUG's (#2, 2-0) victory against Plaza (0-2) 99-94. GUG made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. GUG outrebounded Plaza 52-33 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Juan Guerrero (201-93) notched a double-double by scoring 29 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) to lead the effort and guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) supported him with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 25 points and 7 rebounds by guard Oliver Garcia (188-96) did not help to save the game for Plaza. Naturalized Spanish forward Edward Santana (203-80) added 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks for GUG. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. GUG will play against CPN in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Plaza's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena CDP.
