Regular Season Round 26: Franca - Minas 91-82

Date: March 5, 2020
Rather predictable result in Sao Paulo where second ranked Vivo/Franca (19-5) defeated 5th ranked Minas (16-9) 91-82 on Thursday. Vivo/Franca made 26-of-28 free shots (92.9 percent) during the game. Vivo/Franca outrebounded Minas 34-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international center Rafael Hettsheimeir (206-86) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds. American David Jackson (195-82, college: Penn St.) chipped in 14 points. The former international guard Leandro Barbosa (190-82) produced 33 points (!!!) and American power forward Devon Scott (206-94, college: Philander Smith) added 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Minas' coach Leonardo Costa rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vivo/Franca have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 19-5 record having just two points less than leader Flamengo. Loser Minas keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. Vivo/Franca will meet at home Paschoalotto/Bauru (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Minas will play against Corinthians (#8) in Sao Paulo and hope to secure a win.
