Regular Season Round 16: Rustavi - Mgzavrebi 80-85

Bottom-ranked Mgzavrebi managed to get the second consecutive victory on Friday night. This time they won against seventh-ranked Rustavi 85-80. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-80. Mgzavrebi forced 20 Rustavi turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Mgzavrebi especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Ioseb Gognadze (205-96) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Taj Spencer (201-93, college: CBU) who added 20 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Mgzavrebi's coach Anatoli Berishvili used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side international power forward Ilia Londaridze (205-89) responded with 18 points and 9 rebounds and Serbian power forward Nikola Tadic (206-88) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Mgzavrebi and five Rustavi players scored in double figures. Mgzavrebi (5-10) moved-up to tenth place. Loser Rustavi dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. Mgzavrebi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Tskhum-Abkhazeti.
