Regular Season Round 22: Belfast Star - Neptune 79-77

Eighth-ranked Neptune (9-12) gave a tough game to second ranked Belfast Star (16-5) on Saturday. Belfast Star managed to secure only two-point victory 79-77. However their fans expected much easier game. Strangely Neptune outrebounded Belfast Star 42-23 including a 38-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. American swingman Delaney Blaylock (196, college: Lewis) scored 24 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Christopher Fulton (172-2) chipped in 18 points and 9 assists during the contest. At the losing side the former international point guard Kyle Hosford (182-89) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Spanish forward Nil Sabita (200) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Belfast Star have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 16-5 record behind leader Tralee. Neptune lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with 12 games lost. Belfast Star are looking forward to face DCU Saints (#6) in Dublin in the next round. Neptune will play at home against the league's leader Tralee and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
