Important game to mention about took place in Akureyri. Eleventh ranked Thor AK (6-15) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 8th ranked Grindavik (8-13) 89-86 on Friday evening. It looked good early as Grindavik took a 12-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Thor AK took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 3 points. Thor AK had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for Spanish-Colombian point guard Hansel Atencia (178-97, college: Master's, agency: Players Group) who led his team to a victory with 28 points and 7 assists. Spanish forward Pablo Hernandez (201-97, college: Missouri Baptist, agency: Promo Sport ID) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. American forward Seth LeDay (201, college: ECU) answered with 28 points and 6 rebounds and guard Ingvi Gudmundsson (193-98, college: St.Louis) added 18 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Grindavik. Five Thor AK and four Grindavik players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Thor AK maintains eleventh place with 6-15 record. Grindavik at the other side keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Thor AK will play against higher ranked KR (#4) in Reykjavik in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Grindavik will play at home against Tindastoll (#3) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
