Regular Season Round 40: Niigata A. - Ryukyu GK 72-91

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Niigata. First ranked Ryukyu GK faced 4th ranked Niigata A.. Guests from Okinawa (26-14) smashed host Niigata A. (13-27) 91-72. Ryukyu GK dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata A.'s 42. They outrebounded Niigata A. 40-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. Ryukyu GK looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Jack Cooley (206-91, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 20 rebounds and forward DeMon Brooks (202-92, college: Davidson) who added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Five Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and forward Nick Perkins (203-96, college: Buffalo) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ryukyu GK maintains first position with 26-14 record, which they share with Hitachi SRT. Niigata A. lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 27 games lost. Ryukyu GK will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Niigata A. will play again against the league's leader Ryukyu GK (#1) and hope to secure a win.
