Everything could happen in Jinjiang at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Sturgeons and 9th ranked Leopards had identical 3-2 record. This time Sturgeons used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Shenzhen 106-99 on Tuesday night. Sturgeons made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Leopards were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international Zhelin Wang (214-94) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks. American point guard Ty Lawson (180-87, college: UNC) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 15 assists and 6 steals for the winners. The former international forward QuAn Gu (202-92) answered with 22 points and 7 rebounds and the former international center Zijie Shen (205-97) added 16 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Leopards. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sturgeons (4-2) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Beijing Ducks and Zhejiang Ch. Loser Leopards dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Sturgeons will face Jiangsu Dragons (#11) in Nanjing in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Leopards will play at home against Blue Whales (#15) and hope to win that game.
