Regular Season Round 3: Lakeside L. - Perry Lakes H. 100-78

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Hawks (3-1) in North Lake. Visitors were rolled over by Lightning (3-0) 100-78. They made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Lightning forced 21 Hawks turnovers and outrebounded them 49-28 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for guard Rowan Mackenzie (190-99, college: LCU) who led the winners and scored 28 points. Center Andrew Ferguson (213-98, college: CS Monterey) accounted for 8 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Matthew Leary (190-0, college: Knox) came up with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Ben Purser (200-90, college: Augusta) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively for Hawks in the defeat. Four Hawks players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lightning will play against Cougars (#13) in Hamilton Hill in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Hawks will play at home against Magic (#12) and hope to get back on the winning track.
