Regular Season Round 147: San Antonio S. - Houston R. 123-105

The most crucial game of the last day was a loss of top-ranked Rockets (44-26) on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by fourth ranked Spurs (32-38) 123-105. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Rockets. Spurs dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Rockets' 44 and made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Rockets 59-37 including a 50-33 advantage in defensive rebounds. Spurs looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a good game for Keldon Johnson (200-99, college: Kentucky) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Swingman DeMar DeRozan (201-89, college: USC) contributed with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Point guard Russell Westbrook (190-88, college: UCLA) answered with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Jeff Green (206-86, college: Georgetown) added 17 points in the effort for Rockets. Five Spurs and four Rockets players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spurs have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 32-38 record. Rockets at the other side still keep top position with 26 games lost. Spurs will have a break next day, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rockets will play on the road against the league's second-placed Pacers in Indianapolis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
