Very expected game in Runaway Bay where bottom-ranked Seahawks (0-5) were rolled over by first ranked Brisbane Spartans (4-1) 107-41 on Saturday. Brisbane Spartans held Seahawks to an opponent 24.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 61.1 percent accuracy of the winners. Brisbane Spartans forced 24 Seahawks turnovers and outrebounded them 48-28 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Brisbane Spartans shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. The former international swingman Anthony Drmic (198-92, college: Boise St.) fired 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Power forward Callum Dalton (207-0) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Brisbane Spartans players scored in double figures. Alma-Spencer Taleni produced 8 points and Jesse Lomax added 6 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Brisbane Spartans went down to third position (League) due to points difference. Loser Seahawks still closes the standings with five games lost. Brisbane Spartans will face Northside Wizards (#11) in Taigum in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Seahawks will play on the road against the league's second-placed Brisbane Capitals and hope to get finally their first victory.
