Regular Season Round 5: Gipuzkoa - Zaragoza 70-67

Gipuzkoa's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after two consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Zaragoza (1-4) 70-67. Colombian center Jaime Echenique (211-97, college: Wichita St.) stepped up and scored 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and American point guard Johnny Dee (183-92, college: San Diego) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds. Four Gipuzkoa players scored in double figures. American DJ Seeley (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) responded with 13 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import center Jason Thompson (211-86, college: Rider) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Gipuzkoa (1-2) left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place. Zaragoza at the other side dropped to the seventeenth position with four games lost. They share it with Bilbao. Gipuzkoa will play against higher ranked Blusens Monbus (#6) in Santiago de Comp in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zaragoza will play at home against UCAM Murcia (#7) to get more than just one victory in their record.
