Regular Season Round 5: Burgos - Baskonia 91-89

The most exciting game of round 5 in the Liga Endesa took place in Burgos. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Baskonia (3-2) to fifth ranked Burgos (4-1) 91-89 on Sunday evening. Burgos looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American-Bosnian point guard Alex Renfroe (191-86, college: Belmont, agency: BeoBasket) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 5 assists. Serbian-Canadian power forward Dejan Kravic (211-90, college: Texas Tech) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Lithuanian forward Rokas Giedraitis (200-92) answered with 19 points and 8 rebounds and American center Alec Peters (206-95, college: Valpo) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Baskonia. Four Burgos and five Baskonia players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Burgos have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Joventut. Defending champion Baskonia dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. They share it with UCAM Murcia. Burgos is looking forward to face Andorra (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Baskonia will play against FC Barcelona (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
