But ALBA Berlin was not able to use a home court advantage and was crushed by the opponent from Istanbul 93-72 on Tuesday night. The game was mostly controlled by Anadolu Efes. ALBA Berlin was better in third quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Anadolu Efes looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a good game for German center Tibor Pleiss (221-89) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Serbian guard Vasilije Micic (196-94, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 assists for the winners. Five Anadolu Efes players scored in double figures. Forward Niels Giffey (200-91, college: UConn, agency: BeoBasket) answered with 12 points and American forward Luke Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) added 7 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for ALBA Berlin. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Anadolu Efes will face Zalgiris in Kaunas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. ALBA Berlin will play on the road against CSKA (#10) in Moscow and hopes to get finally their first victory.
