Regular Season Round 14: Dorados - Mineros 82-89

An interesting game for Mineros (11-3) which played road game in Chihuahua against 3rd ranked Dorados (8-6). First ranked Mineros managed to get a 7-point victory 89-82. American center Eric Dawson (206-84, college: Midwestern St., agency: Interperformances) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) to lead the effort and the former international Stephen Soriano (200-85, college: CMU) supported him with 19 points. Dawson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Mineros players scored in double figures. Even 13 points by Argentinian point guard Juan Brussino (185-91) did not help to save the game for Dorados. Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (187-92) added 7 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mineros have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-3 record. Dorados lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with six games lost. Mineros will meet at home Correcaminos (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Dorados will play against Plateros in Fresnillo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
