Regular Season Round 3: Ch.Mavpy 2 - Zhytomyr 79-87

An interesting game was played in Cherkasy where Zhytomyr (#6) beat host Ch.Mavpy 2 (#4) 87-79 on Saturday evening. Ch.Mavpy 2 trailed by 14 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 23-16 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 79-87 at the end of the game. Strangely Ch.Mavpy 2 outrebounded Zhytomyr 49-36 including 18 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for guard Olexiy Solovyov (187-97) who led his team to a victory scoring 44 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Forward Roman Dmytrenko (198-90) helped adding 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Artur Nazarenko (195-2) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds and center Sergii Skira (208-0) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Ch.Mavpy 2's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Zhytomyr will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ch.Mavpy 2 will play again against Zhytomyr (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
