The game had a very big importance for second-ranked CB Canarias as it allowed them to take a leadership position. CB Canarias defeated 3rd ranked Joventut in Tenerife 86-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Joventut. CB Canarias made 20-of-21 free shots (95.2 percent) during the game. Uruguayan point guard Bruno Fitipaldo (183-91, agency: Pro Sports) scored 14 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-89) chipped in 16 points (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) during the contest. The best for the losing side was Croatian center Ante Tomic (217-87) with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Slovakian forward Vladimir Brodziansky (211-94, college: TCU, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 15 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. CB Canarias (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Joventut at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with Baskonia and Burgos. Joventut will play next round against Baskonia trying to get back on the winning streak. CB Canarias will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Unicaja Malaga on the road.
