Regular Season Round 5: MBA-2 - CSKA Junior 78-70

MBA-2's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after two consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked CSKA Junior (2-3) 78-70 on Thursday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-16. But CSKA Junior won second period 19-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. MBA-2 forced 23 CSKA Junior turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by CSKA Junior helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Andrey Malinin (205-2) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Maksim Lichutin (189-0) contributed with 26 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Alexander Maltsev (200-2) answered with 23 points and 9 rebounds and guard Vladimir Karpenko (192-0) added 20 points in the effort for CSKA Junior. MBA-2 (1-2) left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with Parma-2. CSKA Junior at the other side dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with Avtodor-2. MBA-2's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Moscow CSKA Junior.
