Regular Season Round 2: Povoa - Sanjoanense 84-72

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Sanjoanense on the court of Povoa on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Povoa 84-72. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Sanjoanense's 32. Povoa looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international point guard Nuno Oliveira (186-89) had a triple-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds, 14 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and guard Rui Coelho (191-89) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Povoa's coach Jose Ricardo Rodrigues used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Rodrigo Lima (183-98) responded with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and American forward Scott Plaisance (206-96, college: New Orleans) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Four Povoa and five Sanjoanense players scored in double figures. Povoa is looking forward to face Galomar in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sanjoanense will play against Sampaense and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
