No shocking result in a game when Ferrol (3-0) smashed at home Adareva (0-2) 96-39 on Saturday. Ferrol made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game, while Adareva only scored three points from the stripe. Ferrol forced 26 Adareva turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Finnish power forward Maria Aijanen (187-95) who scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Swingman Irene Gari (185-94, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Ferrol players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Mali center Gnere Dembele (186-0) who recorded 6 points and 9 rebounds and Dominican center Yamile Rodriguez (188-94, college: ETSU) added 7 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ferrol will face Rioja (#7) in Azkoitia in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Adareva will play at home against Coruna (#9) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
