Regular Season Round 5: Torun - Arka Gdynia 52-106

EBLK top team - Arka Gdynia (5-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Torun (0-5) 106-52. Arka Gdynia dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Torun's 22 and made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Arka Gdynia forced 23 Torun turnovers and outrebounded them 54-29 including a 21-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Torun's players. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian power forward Laura Miskiniene-Svaryte (190-92) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds. Irish-Australian swingman Alice Kunek (187-91) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Five Arka Gdynia players scored in double figures. Arka Gdynia's coach Gundars Vetra felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Feyonda Fitzgerald (170-95, college: Temple, agency: LBM Management) produced 23 points and 6 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and forward Aleksandra Pszczolarska (181-1) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Arka Gdynia have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 5-0 record. Torun at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Arka Gdynia's next round opponent will be Pol.Gdansk (#7) at home which should be theoretically another easy game. Torun will play against Gorzow Wlkp. (#6) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
