Regular Season Round 5: Ginebra Kings - Hotshots 92-102

The most surprising game was the first loss of Ginebra Kings (4-1) in Manila on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by tenth ranked Hotshots (2-4) 102-92. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Ginebra Kings. Hotshots dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Ginebra Kings' 44 and made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Hotshots looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Forward Jackson Corpuz (193-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Andy Barroca (176-88) contributed with 15 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Hotshots players scored in double figures. Naturalized American point guard Stanley Pringle (184-87, college: Penn St., agency: Pensack Sports) answered with 24 points and 6 rebounds and guard Scottie Thompson (188-93) added 10 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Ginebra Kings. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hotshots moved-up to ninth place. Ginebra Kings at the other side keep the second position with one game lost. Hotshots are looking forward to face higher ranked Blackwater Elite (#8) in Caloocan City in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ginebra Kings' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Manila to the arena Rain or Shine.
