Regular Season Round 4: Vilpas - Kataja 97-72

We should mention about the upset which took place in Salo, where higher ranked Kataja (1-3) was outleveled in a road game by tenth ranked Vilpas (2-2) 97-72 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Vilpas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Kataja's players. American power forward Jeremiah Wood (200-85, agency: Inception Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. The other American import guard Myles Stephens (196-97, college: Princeton) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Valtteri Mervola (183-2) produced 11 points and 6 assists and American guard Rashard Odomes (198-96, college: Oklahoma) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Five Vilpas and four Kataja players scored in double figures. Kataja's coach Petri Virtanen already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Kataja dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Vilpas will face Korihait (#11) in Uusikaupunki in the next round where they are favorite. Kataja will play at home against Kauhajoki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
