Very expected game when 13th ranked Zamarat (1-6) was crushed on the road by sixth ranked Gernika (5-3) 80-55 on Wednesday. Gernika made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Zamarat turnovers. Strangely Zamarat outrebounded Gernika 52-36 including 30 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was Brazilian center Nadia Colhado (193-89) who scored 13 points. American swingman Angie Bjorklund (183-89, college: Tennessee) chipped in 12 points. American power forward Abbie Wolf (193-98, college: Northwestern) produced 12 points and 6 rebounds and Ukrainian center Valeriya Berezhynska (193-86, college: Rice) added 10 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gernika have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Estudiantes. Zamarat lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with six games lost. They share it with Bembibre and Al-Qazeres. Gernika will meet league's leader Perfumerias Avenida in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Zamarat will play against Gran Canaria (#16) and hope to win that game.
