Regular Season Round 4: PeKa - ViVe 81-70

There was no surprise in Kotka where 8th ranked ViVe (1-3) was defeated by top-ranked Peli-Karhut (4-0) 81-70. The game was mostly controlled by Peli-Karhut. ViVe was better in fourth quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Peli-Karhut brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. The winners were led by naturalized Russian power forward Elena Melto (184-86) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds and American forward Zykera Rice (185-96, college: Gonzaga) supported her with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Four Peli-Karhut players scored in double figures. Peli-Karhut's coach Roope Makela allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 26 points and 6 rebounds by American guard Doniyah Cliney (182-96, college: S.Carolina) did not help to save the game for ViVe. Her fellow American import power forward Destinee Young (185-95, college: ODU) added 19 points and 13 rebounds for lost side. Peli-Karhut have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Espoo Team. ViVe lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with three games lost. Peli-Karhut's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Catz Lappeenranta (#10) at home and are hoping to win another game. ViVe will play against HBA-Marsky and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
