Regular Season Round 7: Bonn 2 - Herford 80-89

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Bonn 2 (2-5) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Herford (4-2) 89-80. Herford outrebounded Bonn 2 45-24 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for Lithuanian forward Dainius Zvinklys (203-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Lithuanian forward Vaidotas Volkus (203-85, college: Redlands CC) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Jeremy Lewis (185-86, college: St.Thomas, TX) answered with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and point guard David Falkenstein (188-97) added 13 points in the effort for Bonn 2. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bonn 2's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Herford have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place in West. Bonn 2 lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with five games lost. They share it with Dorsten. Herford will play against Grevenbroich (#4) at home in the next round. Bonn 2 will play against Leverkusen 2 (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
