Regular Season Round 5: Keravnos - Etha 74-71

The most exciting game of round 5 in the OPAP Basket League took place in Strovolos. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Etha (2-3) to fourth ranked Keravnos (3-1) 74-71 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning next two quarters and won the game by 3 points. The best player for the winners was American guard Brandon Rozzell (188-89, college: VCU) who scored 22 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. The former international forward Nikolaos Stylianou (198-88, college: WT) chipped in 16 points. Four Keravnos players scored in double figures. American power forward Eden Ewing (204-97, college: TSU) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import guard Chris McNeal (185-97, college: Cincinnati) added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for the guests. Keravnos have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Etha at the other side keeps the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Omonia. Keravnos are looking forward to face APOP (#8) in Paphou in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Etha will play at home against Apoel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
