The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Vytis as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Vytis smashed bottom-ranked Vilkaviskis in Sakiai 91-70. Vytis dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Vilkaviskis' 22. The former international center Darjus Lavrinovic (212-79) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Paulius Semaska (185-93) chipped in 10 points and 9 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Martynas Tamulevicius (207-2) with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Mantas Serksnas (200-96, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 19 points. Five Vytis and four Vilkaviskis players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vytis (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted Vilkaviskis still closes the standings with three games lost. Vilkaviskis will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Vytis will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Delikatesas in Joniskis.
