Regular Season Round 8: Ginebra Kings - Alaska Aces 87-81

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Alaska Aces (5-4) against fourth ranked Ginebra Kings (5-2) on Tuesday night. Visiting Alaska Aces were defeated by Ginebra Kings in a tough game in Manila 81-87. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Alaska Aces. Alaska Aces were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized American point guard Stanley Pringle (184-87, college: Penn St., agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 6 rebounds and guard Scottie Thompson (188-93) who added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four Ginebra Kings players scored in double figures. Forward Vic Manuel (193-87) responded with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Robbie Herndon (191-93, college: SF State) scored 15 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ginebra Kings moved-up to second place, which they share with SM Beermen. Alaska Aces at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Ginebra Kings will play against bottom-ranked Columbian Dyip (#12) in Makati City in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Alaska Aces will play at home against NLEX RW (#10) and hope to get back on the winning track.
