Rather expected game in Caloocan City where 10th ranked Blackwater Elite (2-6) was defeated by seventh ranked Meralco Bolts (5-3) 89-85 on Wednesday. Meralco Bolts outrebounded Blackwater Elite 50-30 including a 36-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Blackwater Elite was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Chris Newsome (187-90, college: NMHU) stepped up and scored 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Kier Quinto (188-95) chipped in 14 points and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was point guard Shej-Roi Sumang (177-91) with 15 points and 5 assists and forward Celeponio Trollano (191-92) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Meralco Bolts moved-up to fifth place.
