Regular Season Round 6: Kauhajoki - Korihait 118-73
Date: November 4, 2020
Bottom-ranked Korihait (0-6) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to tenth ranked Kauhajoki (3-3) 118-73. The game without a history. Kauhajoki led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 68.1 percent from the field. Kauhajoki had a 29-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 59.3 percentage. Kauhajoki players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American swingman Brandon Spearman (191-91, college: Hawaii) notched 31 points (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the former international forward Okko Jarvi (193-96, agency: Blacktop Management) supported him with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Spearman is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Kauhajoki players scored in double figures. Even 22 points by American guard Trey Zeigler (198-91, college: TCU) did not help to save the game for Korihait. His fellow American import point guard Trevor Blondin (193-96, college: Seton Hill) added 20 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kauhajoki moved-up to seventh place. Korihait at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Kauhajoki will play against higher ranked Vilpas (#3) in Salo in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Korihait will play at home against Nokia (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
