There was a minor upset in Manila where 6th ranked Rain or Shine (4-3) was outplayed by ninth ranked NLEX RW (4-5) 94-74 on Wednesday. NLEX RW looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Point guard Kevin Alas (183-91) stepped up and scored 18 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners and Guamanian guard Jericho Cruz (182-90) chipped in 17 points. The best for the losing side was guard Rey Nambatac (179-94) with 15 points and naturalized American swingman Gabe Norwood (196-85, college: GMU) scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. NLEX RW have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain ninth place with 4-5 record. Loser Rain or Shine dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. NLEX RW will face higher ranked SM Beermen (#6) in Manila in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
